David Annal visits in October to help us "Follow the Money". This talk is on Tuesday 13th October at Bourne End Community Centre.
Taxes are often referred to as one of the two certainties of life – the other being death – and, although our ancestors may not have been thrilled about the various duties that they were subject to, from a family historian’s point of view, the records of those taxes are enormously useful.
This talk will look at five seperate taxes (The Valuation Office, Death Duties, The Tithe Commission, Land Tax and the Hearth Tax) raised over a period of nearly 300 years and will consider the ways in which genealogists can use the records to further their own research.
This is a meeting run by the Buckinghamshire Family History Society in the Eghams Room at Bourne End Community Centre starting at 19:45 (doors open at 19:30).
